Something I’ve only recently started using is surveys. I have set up and sent several Google survey forms to lists in several niches with great results. Today I want to share some of the advantages of using surveys in your emails with you. I hope they will inspire you to ask your own list what they want to learn more about.

Surveys are by nature interactive. In a way they are a two way communication. You ask your readers some questions and they answer you. My favorite way to use a survey in email is to ask them a few questions about a certain topic to see if they are interested in learning more about it. I like to keep some of the questions open ended to get my readers to tell me exactly what it is they are interested in. For example, I recently surveyed one of my niches about healthy eating and asked them what their biggest challenge was when it came to healthy eating. My readers loved filling out the survey and knowing that I would read each entry.

This is a great way to get to know your readers better. They will leave you all sorts of hints in their replies. Through the survey I mentioned earlier, I learned that many of my readers had young kids and were struggling both with picky eaters and spouses that didn’t like changes in the types of meals that were served. This information allows me to write more personal emails that speak directly to my subscriber’s problems and needs.

Knowing your readers is a first important step in building a deeper relationship with them. That’s one of the big secrets of successful email marketing. You have to get your subscribers to know, like and trust you… and the per-requisite here is that you get to know them in the first place.

It turned out that the product was very good, so I wrote up the email to promote the product to my list.

As soon as I sent out the email with the promotion at around 1 am on April 10th, I went to sleep. I woke up in the morning, and I saw over $10,000 in my account from the product. I could not believe it. To this day, I had barely made any money online. I waited for the day to finish, and I checked my statistics the next day.

It said that I made $15,874 in commissions. I ended up getting over 450 sales from that one promotion. This was a 9% conversion rate for the list of around 5000 people. The main thing to understand with these results is that they are very doable with email marketing.

Conclusion:

I never believed that I would make $15,874 in one day on the internet. However, I achieved that by following Anik’s coaching and also by focusing on delivering value to my email list. The third proven way to maximize your article marketing strategies and increase traffic is to create a Squidoo lens. Lenses are fun and easy to create. If you make an eBook, make the lens next. Squidoo offers many options to make a great lens. They have a table of contents to guide your readers. If you already have an eBook, then you can follow it and re-create it in your lens. You can add banners for your affiliate products. Pictures can be linked to your website, or affiliate products. There is even an option to add a link module. In the link module you can describe your links so you can get more readers following them.

How do these article-marketing strategies give you a traffic boom? Every strategy mentioned creates quality back links for your website. Natural, quality linking increases your rank in search engines. These strategies are twofold. You are getting more content out to more viewers as well as establishing your own authority. Article directories, document sharing sites and Squidoo all have authority. You leverage their authority and elevate your own status. An article marketer’s day should go like this, write and submit five articles, turn the best one in to an eBook, upload the eBook to five document sharing sites, create one Squidoo lens. This may seem like a lot of work, but it is the best way to increase your rank, establish authority and get traffic.

4. Not promoting your products or affiliates in the blog. Blogs are intended to inform people, entertain people and to have you speak your opinions first then sell something later. Make sure they gain your trust and creditability then you may focus on a sale later.

5. Not including your URL or website in your blog or article. This is one of the biggest mistakes people make and I have seen it. Some bloggers write a quality post or article and forget to include their contact information. You need to have your website URL plastered into your posts or article. In a month from now, people may not remember what you wrote about but they may remember what website the post was generated from.

6. Making the post or article way too long. It is easy to get away from your point by typing too long of an article. Remember, people don’t read they skim. Get to the point and do it fast, it’s best to have the mentality that less is more. If your article or blog has more than 750 words you may lose the reader sooner rather than later.

7. Not submitting your post as an article. This is by far the biggest mistake of all! Submitting your blog as an article will give you backlinks to your website. People will visit again and again, this is called a sticky articles. You will get ranked by Google for good quality content and will rank higher on Google if you have the right keyword placement in your article. However, there are a couple of rules you need to follow in order to get your article submitted and ranked by Google.
